Job summary

CAE is seeking a Simulator Technician at HMAS Albatross, Nowra, NSW. This on-site role involves performing advanced troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on flight simulators and related systems to maximize availability and reliability.

You will lead technical activities during shifts, mentor junior technicians, and support engineering projects including hardware and software upgrades while ensuring compliance with CASA, OEM, and CAE standards. A rotating 3-shift pattern applies.

Qualifications

• Technical and/or mechanical trade skills; Electrician and/or Electronics Technician.
• IT professional with ability to learn systems quickly.
• Air Technical Avionics (ATV) or Air Technical Airframes (ATA) qualifications and experience are highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, fault isolation, and corrective maintenance on flight simulators and associated systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance activities to ensure maximum simulator availability and reliability.
• Perform visual alignments, calibration activities, and system performance checks.
• Execute, analyse, and evaluate QT G and ATG procedures.
• Lead and coordinate technical activities during shifts in collaboration with the Group Leader, Maintenance Planner, and Technical Management team.
• Provide technical mentoring, coaching, and on-the-job training to junior technicians.
• Support engineering projects involving hardware modifications, software updates, and simulator upgrades.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using CAE's maintenance management system.
• Ensure compliance with CASA, OEM, customer, and CAE quality and safety requirements.
• Assist with logistics activities including parts management, repair tracking, inventory control, and vendor coordination.
• Support customer operations and contribute to the resolution of technical issues affecting training delivery.
• Make technical and operational decisions during periods where management is not present to ensure continuity of simulator operations.

Role Overview

• Carry out all maintenance tasks as required and directed by the Maintenance Manager
• Ensure all maintenance tasks meet internal and external compliance requirements
• As a Technician, you will get to work on world-leading flight simulator technology
• Work to CAE’s Environment, Health and Safety standards

Our Ideal Candidate Has

• Technical and/or mechanical trade skills. Electrician and/or Electronics Technician

Key Responsibilities Will Include
