What we’re looking for:

Are you an experienced operational leader who thrives in fast-paced shutdown environments, enjoys solving complex challenges and knows what it takes to deliver exceptional results?

At Freo Group, we’re looking for a driven and commercially minded Shutdown Superintendent to take ownership of shutdown planning, coordination and execution. This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact, leading high-performing teams, optimising resources and ensuring every shutdown is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

If you're a natural leader who can see the bigger picture, anticipate challenges and bring people, equipment and operational priorities together to achieve outstanding outcomes, we want to hear from you!

What you’ll bring to the team:
  • Extensive operational experience within shutdowns, crane and heavy lifting, mining, maintenance or industrial environments, with a proven background in senior operational leadership.
  • Strong planning and scheduling expertise, with demonstrated experience coordinating complex shutdown activities, workforce requirements and operational resources.
  • Proven leadership capability, with the confidence to mentor teams, drive accountability and build a positive, high-performance culture.
  • Sound technical knowledge of lifting operations, plant and equipment coordination, resource allocation and shutdown execution.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to optimise workforce utilisation, manage competing priorities and deliver cost-effective operational outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across operational teams, clients and supporting functions.
  • A proactive, safety-first mindset, supported by a strong understanding of high-risk work environments, legislative requirements and operational compliance.
  • Relevant trade, technical or operational qualifications and high-risk work licences will be highly regarded.
What you’ll be doing:
  • Lead shutdown planning and delivery, taking ownership of operational readiness, scheduling and execution to achieve safe, efficient and commercially successful outcomes.
  • Optimise workforce and asset utilisation, coordinating labour, cranes, equipment, transport and supporting resources to meet operational and client requirements.
  • Drive operational performance, maintaining oversight of shutdown activities, resolving challenges and ensuring delivery against critical milestones and schedules.
  • Provide visible and effective leadership, coaching and supporting operational teams to strengthen capability, accountability and performance.
  • Champion safety and operational excellence, embedding Zero Harm principles, proactive risk management and compliance across all shutdown activities.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, collaborating with clients, site teams, mobilisation, maintenance and operational support functions to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, enhancing planning processes, resource efficiency, productivity and overall shutdown performance.
