Job summary

Aurizon in Queensland is seeking a Freight Operator (Shunter) to safely perform shunting and yard duties, inspect trains for departure readiness, and coordinate with depot personnel. You will handle maintenance, servicing, provisioning, and housekeeping while upholding Aurizon's safety standards.

To succeed you must hold a Shunt Qualification (mandatory) and a current C Class Manual Driver's Licence, be flexible for a 24/7 roster with up to 12-hour shifts, and demonstrate strong problem solving,

Qualifications

Shunt Qualification mandatory.
A current C Class Manual Driver's Licence.
Flexibility to work a 24/7 roster with shifts up to 12 hours.
Strong commitment to safety, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service focus.

Responsibilities

Maintenance and Servicing.
Provisioning and House Keeping.
Performing shunting and yard duties (including cleaning).
Examining and certifying trains for departure readiness.
Conducting brake tests.
Safely unloading customer products.
Communicating effectively with depot personnel (face-to-face and via two-way radio).
