We’re a cafe and luncheonette in the heart of Brunswick, genuinely embedded in our community, with joy as our north star. Our service is genuine, warm and elevated with a core focus on guest experience. We’re looking for a Shift Supervisor with real presence to enthusiastically lead the floor.
The Role
- You’ll be trusted with real autonomy and a direct line to ownership.
- The Shift Supervisor sets the tempo of service, holds the standard when it matters most, and shapes how every guest feels the moment they walk through the door.
- It’s a role for someone who leads with instinct as much as experience, someone who can read a room, lift its energy, and make even the busiest Saturday service feel effortless.
You’ll bring the floor to life by:
- Leading shifts from open to close, setting the pace, the polish, and the energy the room runs on
- Delivering pre-service briefings that leave the team sharp, confident, and ready
- Championing our service standards and checklists, and speaking up when something could work better
- Turning guest hiccups into moments of genuine care, resolved with warmth and good judgment
- Keeping the floor moving smoothly under pressure through calm, decisive leadership and table management
- Elevating every detail of presentation, from lighting and music to the gleam on a glass
- Bringing new team members up to speed with real mentorship, not just a checklist
- Working hand in glove with the kitchen so every handover feels seamless
- Opening and closing the venue with precision, including cash-up and reconciliation
- Keeping the owners in the loop with sharp, honest shift reporting
- Rostering, scheduling, and managing bookings with confidence across our hospitality systems
Must Have
- A genuine feel for coffee, confident on the machine and fluent in what makes a great cup
- Three to five years of hospitality experience in a venue of similar calibre
- A real love of food and produce, the kind that shows in how you talk about a menu
- Leadership and professionalism that guests and teammates alike can feel
- Fluency with hospitality technology, including Deputy, Square, Tanda, and OpenTable
- A "see a problem, fix a problem" instinct: someone who lifts efficiency, raises the service standard, and champions our SOPs without needing to be asked
Nice to Have
- Contemporary wine knowledge, and/or a WSET qualification
You'll Fit Right In If You're
- Guest Centric: every call you make on the floor starts with what the guest actually needs
- Bright: you bring real energy into a briefing, a greeting, a recovery, and the room feels it
- Driven by Joy: hospitality is a pleasure to give, never a performance to get through
- A true Team player: you look after your people the way you look after your guests
- Someone with Pride: you hold the standard even when no one's watching
- Focused on Welcome: every guest should feel like a regular, and every regular remembered
What We Offer
- Genuine autonomy and a direct line to ownership: your instincts shape how the floor runs
- A close-knit, professional team who take hospitality seriously and each other even more so
- Pay in line with the Hospitality Industry (General) Award plus casual loading, commensurate with experience
- Staff meals and a generous team discount
- An invitation to initiate ideas and collaborate with the owners as we shape the next chapter of a venue on the rise
