Buildability Group Trades and Labour Roles in Sydney CBD is seeking a skilled Shift Engineer to maintain a luxury hotel’s plant and equipment and respond quickly to maintenance requests.

You will perform preventative and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, HVAC and building services, working a rotating day/night shift, and collaborating with guest services to minimise disruption in a high-end environment.

Qualifications

• Electrical or mechanical trade qualification is essential.
• Experience in hotel, commercial property or building services is desirable.
• Ability to work rotating day and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance across the hotel
• Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical, electrical, HVAC and building services issues
• Responding to guest and operational maintenance requests
• Conducting regular inspections of plant, equipment and building services
• Supporting the wider Engineering team with repairs and minor projects
• Ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently
• Maintaining accurate records of maintenance works
• Working closely with hotel departments to minimise disruption to guests
• Supporting the hotel's commitment to exceptional guest service

Are you a hands-on Maintenance Engineer / Shift Engineer looking to take the next step in your hospitality engineering career?

We're currently recruiting for a Shift Engineer to join the engineering team of a prestigious luxury hotel in Sydney CBD. This is a rotating day and night shift position, so flexibility across both shift patterns is essential.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys a varied role, takes pride in their work and wants to work within a high-quality hotel environment.

About the Role

Working as part of the hotel's Engineering team, you'll be responsible for ensuring the property, plant and equipment are maintained to a high standard and that any maintenance issues are responded to quickly and effectively.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance across the hotel
• Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical, electrical, HVAC and general maintenance issues
• Responding to guest and operational maintenance requests
• Conducting regular inspections of plant, equipment and building services
• Supporting the wider Engineering team with repairs and minor projects

About You

We're looking for someone with a strong practical maintenance background who enjoys working in a busy environment.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Shift Engineer, Maintenance Technician, Hotel Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or similar
• A recognised electrical or mechanical trade qualification (essential)
• Strong general maintenance and troubleshooting skills
• Electrical, mechanical, HVAC or building services experience
• Previous hotel or commercial property experience is highly desirable
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• A proactive, hands-on approach to maintenance
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility and willingness to work across both day and night shifts on a rotating roster
