Job summary

Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia in Boorloo (Highgate, Perth WA) is seeking a Sexual Health and BBV Program Officer to plan, develop, and implement strategies enhancing quality improvement and clinical management to reduce STIs and BBVs in Aboriginal people in WA.

The role involves delivering the Birds and the BBVscourse training, mentoring ACCHS staff, promoting appropriate management of STIs and BBVs, and building community networks to support health promotion efforts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in BBVs and STIs.
• Knowledge of clinical quality improvement practices in primary health care.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, promote and deliver the training within the Birds and the BBVscourse.
• Assist in the development and delivery of professional development programs to ACCHS member services.
• Promote and support clinical management of STIs and BBV conditions.
• Provide support, advice and mentoring to Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services’ sexual health staff.
• Build networks in Aboriginal communities to support sexual health promotion activities.
• Support health professionals to understand transmission, symptoms, treatment and prevention of STIs and BBVs.
• Identify data collection needs to support CQI in sexual health and BBV prevention and management.
