Job description

About NACCHO

The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is the national peak body representing 148 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs). ACCHOs deliver comprehensive primary health care to more than half of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples nationally. As an act of self‑determination, these services attend to all matters affecting health and wellbeing spanning transformative community empowerment through to individual health treatments and continuity of care. This is a transformative time in the sector, and NACCHO continues to lead change in line with the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

About the Role

The Senior Project Officer, Period Product Program (PPP), is a pivotal role within NACCHO’s newly formed Immunisation & Period Product team. This multi‑year, national initiative aims to improve access to safe and suitable menstrual products, build capacity, and support education across rural and remote Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations. This is an innovative and creative opportunity to build and shape a new national women’s health program. The role will lead high‑level project management, operational coordination, logistics and stakeholder engagement across the program’s development, distribution and evaluation phases. Regular national travel will be required to connect with ACCHOs, partners and stakeholders across Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish, manage and coordinate the national Period Product Program, ensuring smooth rollout and delivery.
  • Lead operations and logistics, including supplier management, contractor liaison, website ordering and distribution planning.
  • Oversee order and inventory management via a third‑party logistics provider (3PL).
  • Work collaboratively with ACCHOs, affiliates, governments, peak bodies and internal teams to support program objectives.
  • Prepare program reports, briefs, papers and presentations, meeting all reporting deadlines.
  • Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and continuous quality improvement processes.
  • Support development and delivery of capacity building and education components.
  • Work closely with the team to drive enthusiastic and high‑quality implementation of the program.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent qualifications (e.g., Cert IV).
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Strong background in health or public health program management.
  • Experience in procurement, contract management, operations or logistics.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects with limited supervision.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving skills, and proficiency in MS Office.
Why Join NACCHO?
  • Be part of a pivotal women’s health initiative for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Innovate and build a national program from the ground up.
  • Work within a supportive, passionate and high‑performing team.
  • Contribute to meaningful systems‑level change in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
