Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice invites applications for a Services and Programs Officer located in Cooma (and Nowra). This ongoing and temporary full-time role supports offenders through assessment, case planning, crisis intervention and rehabilitation programs to reduce re-offending and promote positive outcomes.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, mental-health or other human service fields; and /or demonstrated relevant equivalent experience working with family, social and / or drug and alcohol related issues.
• Current Certificate IV in Correctional Practice with the necessary Units of Competency for this role or capacity to complete Certificate IV in Correctional Practice in accordance with specified CSNSW timeframes.

Employment type – Ongoing and Temporary Full-time positions available

Salary – $102,936 - $113,579 pa Plus Superannuation and Annual Leave Loading

Your role

This role supports offenders and remandees through assessment, case planning, crisis intervention, and rehabilitation programs to reduce re-offending and promote positive outcomes. What You'll Do

Every day, you'll have the opportunity to help people take meaningful steps toward positive change. By providing assessments, case management, individual interventions, and evidence-based programs, you'll support offenders to address challenges, build life skills, and successfully reintegrate into the community.

you’ll work closely with offenders at different stages of their journey, delivering group programs, responding to crisis situations, and connecting individuals with the support services they need. No two days are the same, and your work will directly contribute to safer communities and reduced re-offending.

As part of a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team, you'll work in a dynamic correctional environment where collaboration, professional development, and making a real difference are at the heart of what you do.

Key Knowledge And Experience

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the transitional factors affecting offenders and their families.
• Demonstrated ability and experience in assessment, case management and intervention with clients with complex welfare and alcohol and drug related needs
• Demonstrated ability and / or experience in delivering group based interventions
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of alcohol and other drug dependence and evidenced based interventions.

Essential Requirements
