Job summary

Corrective Services NSW, part of the NSW Department of Communities and Justice, is seeking a Services and Programs Officer in Junee. You will assess offenders, plan case management, deliver programs and respond to crises to support rehabilitation and reduce re-offending.

This ongoing full-time role offers growth in a dynamic correctional setting. Applicants bring tertiary qualifications in social work/psychology and a Certificate IV in Correctional Practice, with a flexible, autonomous work

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of transitional factors affecting offenders and families.
  • Experience in assessment, case management and intervention with clients with complex welfare and AOD needs.
  • Experience in delivering group-based interventions.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and other drug dependence and evidence-based interventions.
  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology or related human service field; or equivalent experience.

Salary – $102,936 - $113,579 pa Plus Superannuation and Annual Leave Loading
Your role

This role supports offenders and remandees through assessment, case planning, crisis intervention, and rehabilitation programs to reduce re‑offending and promote positive outcomes. It is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact, develop expertise in case management and program delivery, and contribute to safer communities through supporting long‑term behavioural change.

What you’ll do

Every day, you’ll have the opportunity to help people take meaningful steps toward positive change. By providing assessments, case management, individual interventions, and evidence‑based programs, you’ll support offenders to address challenges, build life skills, and successfully reintegrate into the community.

You’ll work closely with offenders at different stages of their journey, delivering group programs, responding to crisis situations, and connecting individuals with the support services they need. No two days are the same, and your work will directly contribute to safer communities and reduced re‑offending.

As part of a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team, you’ll work in a dynamic correctional environment where collaboration, professional development, and making a real difference are at the heart of what you do.

Key knowledge and experience
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the transitional factors affecting offenders and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in assessment, case management and intervention with clients with complex welfare and alcohol and drug related needs
  • Demonstrated ability and / or experience in delivering group based interventions
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of alcohol and other drug dependence and evidenced based interventions.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, mental-health or other human service fields; and /or demonstrated relevant equivalent experience working with family, social and / or drug and alcohol related issues.
  • Current Certificate IV in Correctional Practice with the necessary Units of Competency for this role or capacity to complete Certificate IV in Correctional Practice in accordance with specified CSNSW timeframes.
