Australian Electoral Commission is seeking a ServiceNow Software Engineer (Developer) to deliver hands-on development across ITSM, HRSD and CSM on the ServiceNow platform. The role requires active security clearance and hybrid work in Canberra, with potential national/remote options as required.

Australian citizenship required. Must have an active Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
Location: Canberra (Hybrid).
The ServiceNow Developer will be responsible for delivering high-quality, hands‑on technical development across the AEC's ServiceNow platform to support critical digital and service delivery outcomes. The role requires strong, proven experience in ServiceNow configuration and custom development, with responsibility for designing, building, enhancing and supporting solutions across one or more ServiceNow products, including IT Service Management (ITSM), Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD) and Customer Service Management (CSM).
Working within an agile delivery team, the ServiceNow Developer will contribute across the full development lifecycle, including requirements refinement, solution design, build, testing, deployment and post-implementation support, and will work closely with product owners, business analysts, architects and operational teams to deliver secure, reliable and scalable solutions.
The role will also contribute to platform maintenance activities, including upgrades, defect resolution, performance optimisation and technical documentation, and will be expected to operate with a high degree of independence, professionalism and technical proficiency to meet delivery timeframes and quality standards within a complex government environment.
Applicants will perform the role from the National Office in Canberra. Hybrid working arrangements involving onsite attendance and remote working will be accepted. Applicants in other locations may be considered at the Hiring Manager's discretion. Where AEC accommodation is unavailable, remote working will be accepted.

The role sits within the AEC's Application Platform Management Section, which is focused on consolidating application platforms and ensuring continuity of support. As a ServiceNow Developer, you will concentrate on the technical capabilities of the ServiceNow platform, delivering secure, scalable solutions that enhance business operations and service delivery. You'll work across the full development lifecycle and collaborate with stakeholders to optimise performance, reliability, and compliance.
The role will be part of the Chief Information Officer Division which delivers a range of ICT services to the agency including infrastructure, application development and communications. ICT services are delivered through a select sourcing model, with a mixture of in-house and outsourced resources.
