Job summary

Mine Safety & Compliance QLD (MSCQLD) invites applications for a hands-on Service Technician. You will travel across Townsville and North Queensland, servicing safety equipment and maintaining stock in a fully equipped company vehicle. Full training is provided by the owners across multiple service areas.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or field service is preferred but not essential.
• Ability to manage daily run sheets or service schedules.
• Comfortable using basic computer, smartphone or tablet for reports and records.
• Willingness to travel across Townsville and surrounding North Queensland.

Responsibilities

• Visit customer sites to service, audit and replenish equipment.
• Inspect equipment condition, expiry dates and contents.
• Replace used or damaged products and perform basic repairs.
• Complete digital service reports and maintain accurate records.
• Take photos and record service information at customer sites.
• Process invoices and stock records and keep documentation up to date.
• Maintain your service vehicle and stock levels, and keep it organized.
• Communicate opportunities and customer requirements to MSCQLD team.

Mine Safety & Compliance QLD (MSCQLD) is a locally owned and operated North Queensland business providing professional safety, compliance and workplace service solutions to businesses across the region.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a friendly, reliable and customer-focused Service Technician to join our growing team.

This is a hands-on, mobile service role where you will visit customer workplaces in a fully equipped company vehicle to service, audit, maintain and replenish a wide range of workplace safety and compliance equipment.

Our services include:

• Spill kits
• Safety showers and eyewash stations
• AEDs
• Dangerous goods cabinets
• Safety equipment and other workplace compliance products

No previous experience in these specific service areas is required. Full training will be provided.

You will be trained directly by the business owners across our different service models, giving you the opportunity to develop a broad range of practical, technical and customer service skills as the business continues to grow.

The Role

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for visiting customer sites and completing scheduled servicing, inspections and replenishment of workplace safety equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Servicing, auditing, repairing and replenishing workplace safety equipment
• Inspecting equipment condition, contents and expiry dates
• Replacing used, damaged or expired products
• Carrying out basic repairs and maintenance where required
• Completing digital service reports and maintaining accurate service records
• Taking photos and recording service information at customer sites
• Completing invoices, stock records and other required documentation
• Managing your daily run sheet and scheduled customer visits
• Maintaining appropriate stock levels in your service vehicle
• Keeping your service vehicle clean, organised and fully stocked
• Identifying additional customer requirements and communicating opportunities to the MSCQLD team
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers and site personnel
• Travelling to customer sites across Townsville and surrounding North Queensland areas
• Following MSCQLD and customer workplace health and safety requirements
• Representing MSCQLD professionally at every customer visit

Required Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical, organized and enjoys working with people.

You don't need to have experience in every area of our business. We provide full training, but the following skills and experience will be highly regarded:

• Background in customer service, field service, sales support, retail, safety products, trades, maintenance or a similar role
• Good communication skills and a friendly, professional manner when dealing with customers and site personnel
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a daily run sheet or service schedule
• Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for completing scheduled work
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
• Basic computer, smartphone or tablet skills
• Ability to complete service reports, invoices, stock records and other documentation accurately
• Comfortable managing, organising, lifting and carrying physical stock and service equipment as required
• Willingness to travel across Townsville and surrounding North Queensland
• Ability to follow workplace safety procedures and customer site requirements
• A practical, problem-solving approach
• Professional presentation and pride in the quality of your work
• Reliable and punctual
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills

Experience That Would Be an Advantage

Experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial but is not essential:

• Workplace health and safety
• First aid or safety equipment
• Spill response or environmental products
• Field servicing or equipment maintenance
• Trade or mechanical work
• Inventory or stock management
• Customer account management
• Sales or identifying additional customer requirements

We are more interested in the right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn than having specific industry experience. Full training will be provided across all MSCQLD service areas.

Site & Safety Requirements

Our technicians regularly attend mining, industrial, commercial, council, transport and other controlled workplace environments.

You will be required to comply with customer site requirements, including:

• Site inductions
• Personal protective equipment requirements
• Drug and alcohol policies where applicable
• Customer-specific safety procedures
• Vehicle and site access requirements
• Respiratory protection requirements where applicable

MSCQLD operates a smoke-free workplace. Smoking and vaping are not permitted in MSCQLD workplaces, company vehicles or other areas where smoking or vaping is prohibited by the customer or site requirements.

Some customer sites require personnel to be clean-shaven to allow respiratory protective equipment to be correctly fitted.

Applicants must be willing and able to meet this requirement where applicable.
