Job summary

Liverpool City Council is seeking a Senior Claims Assessor with NSW self-insurance experience to manage end-to-end workers' compensation claims, ensuring compliance with NSW legislation and SIRA guidelines.

You will handle complex physical and psychological injuries, coordinate return-to-work plans, and manage external providers. Hybrid work options available; applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in managing workers' compensation claims for a self-insured company
• SIRA endorsed Return To Work Certificate
• Current C Class License
• 5+ years NSW Self Insurance experience in end-to-end claims management
• Experience managing complex physical and psychological injuries
• Ability to extract data and prepare reports with high accuracy

Responsibilities

• Process an end-to-end portfolio of workers' compensation claims in line with NSW legislation and SIRA guidelines.
• Review liability decisions and determine, accept or decline claims per legal requirements.
• Endorse or co-sign complex claim declinations and dispute decisions to ensure legal compliance.
• Deliver proactive liability reviews and advisory services to enable early return to work.
• Serve as escalation point for technical claims discussions on high complexity cases.
• Manage external service providers including solicitors, IMEs, rehabilitation providers and investigators.
• Provide care for injured workers and refer to medical practitioners as required.
• Complete injury management and return-to-work steps, including coordination with relevant units.
• Liaise with the WHS Unit for injury investigations and perform 3-point contact process.
