Job summary

The Shire of Banana is seeking a Senior Treatment Plant Operator to lead the treatment team at our water and wastewater facilities in Moura, Queensland. You will apply extensive knowledge to direct operations, mentor staff, plan jobs, and monitor performance.

You will work with contractors, ensure compliance with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, report findings, manage SCADA/Telemetry systems, and prepare statutory reports.

Qualifications

• Compulsory Queensland C class manual driver’s licence (provisional).
• Certificate III in Water/Wastewater Treatment Operations or equivalent.
• General Construction Induction Card.
• Desirable Certificate IV or Diploma in Water/Wastewater Treatment Operations or equivalent.
• Desirable Diploma in Water/Wastewater Treatment Operations or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor staff to promote a strong work ethic and development.
• Ensure effective daily/after-hours operation and monitoring of facilities with reporting.
• Coordinate work to operate water and wastewater plants in compliance with guidelines.
• Implement procedures to maintain service continuity and reduce breakdowns.
• Assist in developing maintenance schedules and assess performance.
• Respond to enquiries from customers and staff professionally.
• Maintain logs, asset records and monthly reports.
• Update SWIMs with tasks and test results and respond to alarms.
• Audit tasks and ensure SOPs are followed.
• Utilise SCADA/Telemetry to monitor parameters and calibrate equipment.
• Prepare data for statutory reporting obligations.
