Job summary

Banana Shire Council in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Treatment Plant Operator to lead the treatment team, mentor staff and oversee operations of water and wastewater plants. The role requires extensive knowledge of treatment processes, safety compliance and reporting.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience in municipal water and wastewater treatment operations.
• Certificate III in Water/Wastewater Treatment Operations or equivalent.
• Licence: Queensland C class manual driver’s licence (minimum provisional).
• General Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card).

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor staff to promote high work ethic and professional development.
• Manage daily/after-hours operation and monitoring of treatment facilities with reporting.
• Coordinate work to ensure compliance with water quality guidelines and permits.
• Implement procedures to ensure continuity of service and reduce breakdowns.
• Develop and review maintenance schedules for efficient operations.
• Respond promptly to inquiries from customers and stakeholders.
• Maintain logs, asset records and monthly reports.
• Update SWIMs with tasks and test results and respond to alarms.
• Audit tasks and ensure compliance with SOPs.
• Utilise SCADA/Telemetry to monitor parameters and calibrate equipment.
