Job summary

Council Jobs seeks a Manager Water Services to lead water and sewerage operations in Queensland. This senior role provides strategic engineering oversight, governance, and assurance across safety, compliance and customer outcomes, reporting to the Director Council Services.

You will manage a seven‑person team, drive capital delivery, and ensure service performance aligns with long‑term financial plans while maintaining rigorous risk management and process safety standards.

Qualifications

• Broad senior leadership experience in municipal water and sewerage service delivery.
• Knowledge of QLD water regulatory framework (DWQMP, CSS, incident reporting), ADWG, ERA 63 licensing.
• Contract management experience with projects valued at $1M–$5M.
• Excellent communication skills and report writing for technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Flexible, able to prioritise competing demands, meet deadlines and provide clear technical guidance.
• Commitment to WHS principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and delivery of safe, reliable water and sewerage services.
• Oversee regulatory compliance, audits and reporting to regulators.
• Own water quality risk framework, incident response and risk assessments.
• Lead asset management and long‑term capital forecasting.
• Develop and deliver multi‑year capital programs with governance and procurement alignment.
• Drive operational excellence and workforce capability development.
