Job summary

Mackay Regional Council in Queensland seeks an Engineer Strategy – Water & Wastewater to shape long-term water and sewerage networks. Reporting to the Coordinator Strategy – Water & Wastewater, the role blends engineering with strategic planning to guide investment decisions.

This permanent, on-site position offers the chance to work on hydraulic modelling, asset management and capital works programs, collaborating with internal teams, developers and consultants to drive sustainable growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level civil/environmental engineering degree.
• Experience in water and wastewater engineering or infrastructure planning.
• Experience in asset management and design processes.
• Understanding of hydraulic modelling and network planning.
• Strong ability to interpret data and provide evidence-based recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking hydraulic modelling and network capacity assessments to support future infrastructure planning.
• Contributing to water and wastewater infrastructure strategies, asset management plans and capital works programs.
• Preparing concept designs, feasibility assessments, business cases and technical reports.
• Providing engineering advice on development applications and proposed infrastructure connections.
• Analysing network performance, asset condition and future demand to inform investment priorities.
• Working with internal teams, developers and external consultants to deliver effective infrastructure solutions.
