Job summary

Northern Star Resources invites an experienced Underground Senior Project Engineer to lead capital and infrastructure projects within our Kalgoorlie-Boulder operations. You will oversee scoping, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover while aligning with safety standards and production goals.

You will collaborate with operations, technical services and external contractors, delivering projects on time, within budget, and with robust reporting and documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience in underground hard rock mines.
• Experience across full project lifecycle: design, procurement, construction, commissioning, handover.
• Experience developing capital budgets, cost estimates, and CAPEX requests.
• Contractor management experience: tendering, scope, performance.
• Understanding of underground mine infrastructure (ventilation, dewatering, electrical, materials handling).
• Proficiency with scheduling tools (MS Project); Deswik CAD and Ventsim a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and proactive delay management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with weekly/monthly reporting.
• Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates; manage field contractors.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, technical services and schedulers to minimise production disruption.
• Deliver underground capital and infrastructure projects from scoping through handover.
• Prepare CAPEX requests and ensure compliance with site standards and WHS regulations.
• Mentor Project Engineers and graduate engineers; provide technical guidance.
• Produce weekly and monthly project reports and commissioning records.
