Job summary

BHP in Adelaide is seeking an experienced Mine Design Engineer to join the Resource Engineering team. You will shape safe, practical plans across 20–40Mt mining blocks, from concept through execution, influencing mine design across IOCG operations.

Role offers Monday–Friday with hybrid working flexibility and relocation support. You will collaborate with planning, execution, and technical teams to optimise stope and development designs and deliver value-driven outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Mining, Geotechnical, Civil or aligned discipline.
• Broad understanding of mining and operating challenges.
• Underground mine experience, preferably with Sub-level Open Stoping.
• Proficient with mining software and Excel.
• Able to think laterally and visualize in 3D.
• Strong commercial sense and understanding of business drivers.
• Familiarity with project management principles.

Responsibilities

• Formulate mine development and stope planning with planning/execution teams.
• Plan/design to extract value from ore bodies with other teams.
• Monitor and maintain progress for all design work using team tools.
• Deliver Stope Notes for allocated mine areas.
• Deliver horizontal and vertical development designs.
• Collaborate on integrated improvement projects.
• Contribute to maintaining and verifying design/execution processes.
