Job summary

City of Ryde is seeking a Senior Town Planner to advise on a broad range of development matters, from local to State Significant Development projects. You will support community, industry and internal stakeholders with expert planning guidance and frontline service.

The role sits in Development Advisory and Insights, offering exposure to high-profile projects and opportunities for professional growth within a dynamic council environment.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualifications in town planning or equivalent.
• Experience assessing complex development applications and planning proposals.
• Experience preparing submissions and providing advice on major development projects.
• Ability to interpret NSW planning legislation and policy frameworks.
• Extensive knowledge in urban planning and development assessment.
• Sound knowledge of Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and planning appeals.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and able to converse confidently with clients.
• Excellent organisation and time management skills with ability to prioritise deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on development proposals and enquiries from diverse clients.
• Lead review and preparation of Council submissions on major developments.
• Oversee development application and subdivision lodgements through NSW Planning Portal.
• Coordinate and participate in pre-lodgement meetings and Urban Design Review Panel.
• Prepare and deliver presentations to Council and stakeholders about planning controls and policies.
