Job summary

Gallagher Bassett in Sydney, Australia, seeks an experienced Technical Manager to oversee General Liability and Medical Negligence claims. You will provide technical guidance, ensure accurate coverage interpretation, and support complex resolutions across the claims portfolio.

You will lead and coach claims professionals, influence outcomes across stakeholders, and contribute to governance and continuous improvement of claims quality and efficiency. Hybrid work arrangements are available.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in general insurance claims with strong technical expertise in coverage interpretation.
• Strong knowledge of General Liability and policy wording, exclusions and endorsements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience coaching and developing technical capability within claims teams.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and analyse insurance policies to determine coverage across complex claims.
• Provide expert technical advice on policy interpretation and dispute risk.
• Act as the primary escalation point for complex coverage queries.
• Support settlement strategy development with claims teams.
• Ensure compliant application of policy language and scheme requirements.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify trends and mitigate exposure with recommendations.
• Coach and develop claims professionals to strengthen technical capability.
