Job summary

TAL is seeking a Claims Technical Specialist in Sydney to provide expert guidance across Group Claims, supporting Consultants and leaders in managing complex and adverse claims. The role emphasizes sound technical judgement, policy interpretation and regulatory compliance, with coaching and knowledge sharing to uplift the broader claims function.

You will guide claim strategy, influence decision‑making and partner with leaders to close capability gaps through targeted coaching and development

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Group Life Insurance claims.
• Advanced knowledge of life insurance products and claims principles.
• Ability to interpret policy, legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Experience coaching or mentoring claims professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical guidance across complex, sensitive claims.
• Offer technical oversight on adverse claims and contractual remedies.
• Review and endorse claim decisions within delegated authority.
• Act as SME in policy interpretation and regulatory requirements.
• Coach consultants to strengthen capability and decision‑making.
• Support delegated authority development through technical guidance.
• Facilitate case conferences and claim strategy discussions.
• Identify capability gaps and drive coaching/training initiatives.
• Support QA, audit, governance and risk activities.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
