Job summary

Hollard Insurance invites applications for a Policy Product and Pricing role in Sydney. You will work with underwriters and technology teams to translate business needs into technical requirements and ensure accurate pricing, policy setup and smooth quote-to-renewal workflows.

Your Team

The Policy Product and Pricing Team, is responsible for building, maintaining, and improving the applications that support our policy administration systems and rating engines for both Personal and Commercial insurance. You will work closely with underwriters, business users, and technical teams to make sure products are set up correctly, prices are calculated accurately, and policies run smoothly from quote to renewal. By keeping these systems reliable and up to date, the team helps the business launch new products, respond to market changes, and give customers a better experience.

Your Role

Reporting to the IT Product Owner, you will work with business users, underwriters, and technical teams to turn business needs into clear technical requirements. You will study how the policy system works today, find gaps or problems in the rules and system logic, and help design practical solutions. You will also analyse and test underwriting rules and pricing logic, using test data and system tools to check they work as expected.

You will need strong commercial insurance knowledge and a good understanding of how policy systems, rating engines, and data flows work behind the scenes. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working close to the system, likes solving technical problems, and takes pride in getting the details right

• Providing support to the Platform Owner in order to clarify needs, determine impact, and define priority.
• Work with policy admin systems to set up and check product and policy changes
• Work with underwriters and the business to understand, document, and confirm the underwriting rules and requirements
• Analyse the rules to find gaps, conflicts, or unclear points, and agree on fixes with stakeholders
• Manage requirements, user stories, and changes in Azure DevOps, and link them to test cases and defects so every rule can be traced
• Producing high quality business requirements document that are clear and are easy to understand so that they can be implemented by the technical and vendor teams.

Your knowledge and experience

• Good understanding of underwriting rules with hands‑on experience in policy admin systems
• Strong knowledge of commercial insurance (for example, property, liability and business package policies)
• Experience writing requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and testing experience, including checking that underwriting rules are valid and finding cases where they do not work as expected
• Good written and communication skills to explain technical ideas in simple words
• Strong SQL and DevOps skills, especially Azure DevOps Test Plans (creating test cases, running tests, and logging bugs)
