Job summary

Orica invites a Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead to join the Digital Solutions team, working on Orebody Intelligence products. You will contribute to AXIS Connect Field, delivering borehole data to the cloud and informing blasting, grade control, and resource models.

The role blends hands-on device integration with architectural decisions, mentoring, and delivery. Flutter/Mobile experience is valuable, and the team is remote and hybrid across Australia.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience designing resilient communication flows across Bluetooth, serial, and TCP/IP.
• Experience leading engineering teams and delivering high‑quality software solutions.
• Architectural judgement and decision-making to evolve mature products.
• Ability to communicate trade-offs to product and engineering leadership.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product, SMEs and engineering leadership to deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Provide technical direction for the product suite and architecture.
• Design reliable communication workflows with connected positioning devices and cloud services.
• Work with field devices in rugged environments and ensure offline data capture.
• Break down large problems into shippable work items.
• Mentor and grow developers within the team.
• Contribute to and influence technical design decisions.
