Orica Limited is seeking a Lead Engineer for the Digital Solutions team, focused on FRAGTrack. You will provide technical leadership across edge and cloud systems, guiding decisions and ensuring reliable integration with customer needs in mining operations globally.

The role blends hands‑on engineering with people leadership, supporting a team delivering secure, observable software in remote environments and across hybrid Australia‑based operations.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and delivering distributed software systems.
• Deep experience with C# and Python.
• Experience with cloud application architecture, preferably Azure and multi‑tenanted SaaS platforms.
• Understand event‑driven architectures, APIs, data modelling and service integration.
• Experience developing software for Linux and distributed edge‑computing environments.
• Knowledge of software security, automated delivery and observability.
• Track record delivering robust software in cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to lead technical decisions across multiple engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver capabilities for FRAGTrack with cross‑functional teams.
• Provide technical leadership across FRAGTrack and IoT platforms.
• Design data models, contracts and interfaces between distributed systems.
• Deliver highly available products via automated delivery, monitoring and management.
• Build secure, observable software for cloud and edge environments.
• Collaborate with CV/ML engineers to production‑ize research algorithms.
• Mentor engineers and support professional growth within the team.
• Maintain security posture aligning with ISO 27001 and Orica security practices.
