Job summary

Burwood Council is seeking a Senior Team Leader for Civil Construction & Maintenance to supervise a small team of Team Leaders, labourers and contractors to deliver projects across roads, footpaths, drainage, and other assets. The role balances planning with on-site supervision and contractor management.

You will ensure safety, quality, and efficiency, while advancing continuous improvement and using Assetic Mobility for field workflows.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience for supervising civil teams.
• Demonstrated experience in civil construction, maintenance, and drainage works.
• Strong communication and organisational skills with a focus on safety and quality.
• Competency in the operation of minor plant and equipment.
• Proficiency in using computer systems and mobility tools (e.g. Assetic Mobility).

Your Position

As Senior Team Leader, you’ll supervise a small team of Team Leaders, labourers and contractors to deliver construction and maintenance projects across roads, footpaths, drainage lines and other council assets. You’ll manage day-to-day operations, coordinate resources, and ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

This is a practical leadership role where you’ll balance planning and administration with on-site supervision. You’ll also play a key role in contractor management, WHS compliance, and continuous improvement of work practices.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:-

• Lead and motivate a team to deliver civil works and maintenance programs
• Oversee scheduling, rostering and performance management
• Manage contractors and procurement processes
• Ensure compliance with WHS and environmental standards
• Operate plant and equipment when required
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors and the community

To besuccessful in this role you will have:-

KeyRequirements:

• Certificate III in Civil Construction or equivalent qualification, or at least five years’ relevant experience.
• CurrentNSW MR Driver's Licence.
• NSWGeneral Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Be willing to undertakepre-employment screening, including a pre-employment medical and/or policecheck.
• Desirable: Traffic Control certification or willingness to obtain.
• Access to Council's 9-day fortnight.
