Job summary

Cochlear Limited in Sydney, NSW, Australia, invites applications for a full-time Senior Systems Engineer, Smart Implant Systems based at our Macquarie University office. You will lead systems engineering activities to design, develop and deliver advanced hearing solutions through engineering best practices and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

You will define architectures and requirements, support product strategies, and ensure high-quality medical devices meet regulatory and customer needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or Science, preferably in Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Biomedical or Systems Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' post-qualification engineering experience within an R&D environment.
• Understanding of systems engineering principles, methods and tools that are appropriate for the development of medical devices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams at various levels.
• Experience in influencing stakeholders to arrive at decisions and deliver project outcomes.
• Experience working in team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering activities for Smart Implants Systems product development projects.
• Collaborate to define system architecture, product requirements and maintaining requirement traceability.
• Drive system-level design decisions, issue resolution and cross-functional technical alignment.
• Lead feature development, including requirements definition, design, verification and deployment.
• Support regulatory submissions through the creation of high-quality technical documentation.
• Contribute to product family engineering strategy, systems engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
