Job summary

Cochlear invites applications for a Senior Systems Engineer, Smart Implant Systems, based at our Macquarie University, NSW office. You will lead systems engineering activities to design, develop and deliver new hearing solutions, applying robust engineering practices across cross-functional teams.

The role requires a degree in Engineering or Science, 5+ years in an R&D environment, and strong stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Engineering or Science degree required (Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Biomedical or Systems Engineering preferred).
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification engineering experience within an R&D environment.
• Understanding of systems engineering principles, methods and tools for medical devices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams at various levels.
• Experience influencing stakeholders to arrive at decisions and deliver project outcomes.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering activities for Smart Implants Systems product development projects.
• Define system architecture, product requirements and maintain requirement traceability.
• Drive system-level design decisions, issue resolution and cross-functional technical alignment.
• Lead feature development, including requirements definition, design, verification and deployment.
• Support regulatory submissions through the creation of high-quality technical documentation.
• Contribute to product family engineering strategy, systems engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
