Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in control systems, automation or power systems engineering.

We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead the design and delivery of substation automation, renewable energy and grid-connected power system projects.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will provide engineering direction, mentor project teams, and work closely with clients to deliver complex SCADA, PLC, communications and control system solutions across substations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids and renewable energy facilities.

In this role you will:

• Lead teams of engineers and designers to successfully deliver the design, development, testing and commissioning of:

  • Substation automation systems

  • SCADA and control systems

  • Grid-connected renewable energy systems

  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

  • Microgrid control systems

• Develop SCADA architectures, communications networks and control system solutions for critical energy infrastructure.

• Design and implement PLC, RTU and automation solutions.

• Oversee engineering quality, technical risk management and compliance activities.

• Conduct design reviews, FAT, SAT and site commissioning activities.

• Work closely with clients, project managers, protection engineers and other stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.

• Support business development activities, proposals and client relationship management.

Technical Experience:

Experience in some of the following areas will be highly regarded:

• Substation Automation & Power Systems – Design and delivery of substation automation systems, including SCADA, RTUs, IED integration and utility-scale energy infrastructure projects.

• SCADA Systems – Design, development and commissioning of large-scale SCADA systems using recognised industrial and utility platforms such as AVEVA Plant SCADA, Ignition, GE, Siemens or equivalent platforms commonly used within the Australian energy sector.

• PLC, RTU & Automation Systems – Programming, configuration and commissioning of PLCs, RTUs and automation controllers using major industry platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider Electric, SEL, GE or Eaton.

• Industrial Communications & Networking – Design and integration of industrial networks and communications systems, including IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus and Ethernet-based architectures for critical infrastructure applications.

• Renewable Energy & Grid Integration – Experience with renewable energy, battery energy storage, microgrids or grid-connected systems, including control strategies, energy management and grid compliance requirements.
