This role is either FIFO Brisbane 8/6 roster or residentially based in Mount Isa on a 5/2, 9 day fortnight

Glencore Mount Isa Mines is seeking an experienced Senior – Structural Engineer to lead the safe and successful delivery of structural fabrication, remediation, preservation, and installation projects across our surface operations.
Reporting to the Practice Lead – Structural and Demolition Projects, you will play a critical role in planning, coordinating and supervising structural improvement projects across key assets including the Copper Smelter, Lead Smelter, Zinc Lead Concentrator, Copper Concentrator and supporting infrastructure. You will provide visible leadership in safety, project delivery and contractor management while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Working closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and HSEC teams, you will conduct defect inspection, prepare remediation scopes and preliminary design concepts, develop project execution strategies, optimise resource allocation and drive continuous improvement initiatives that support plant reliability, structural integrity and business performance.
You will bring proven experience as a Structural Engineer working within mining, heavy industrial, processing or similar operational environments, with a strong focus on structural assessment, remediation and project execution.
You will have demonstrated experience inspecting existing structures, assessing defects and developing practical remediation solutions that can be safely and efficiently executed in an operating environment. You will be comfortable moving between field inspections, engineering assessments, project planning and construction oversight, with a strong understanding of how engineering decisions translate into practical site outcomes.
The successful candidate will possess strong risk-based decision-making and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage a portfolio of defects and identify opportunities to group and sequence works based on risk, location, access and available resources. Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, operations, maintenance and construction teams. A practical, hands-on approach and demonstrated commitment to safety, engineering quality and delivery are essential.
