Job summary

Glencore Mount Isa Mines is advertising a Project Supervisor - Structural to lead the delivery of structural fabrication, construction and installation across our surface operations. This residential role is based in Mount Isa on an 8/6 roster, reporting to the Superintendent - Structural Projects.

You will coordinate engineering, maintenance, operations and HSEC teams, develop execution strategies, manage budgets and ensure projects meet safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising a Project Supervisor - Structural vacancy that exists in the Engineering Department. This role will see you become an integral part of the Structural Projects team. This role is residentially based in Mount Isa, working a 8/6 roster.

About the role


Glencore Mount Isa Mines is seeking an experienced Supervisor - Structural Projects to lead the safe and successful delivery of structural fabrication, construction and installation projects across our surface operations.


Reporting to the Superintendent - Structural Projects, you will play a critical role in planning, coordinating and supervising structural improvement projects across key assets including the Copper Smelter, Lead Smelter, Zinc Lead Concentrator, Copper Concentrator and supporting infrastructure. You will provide visible leadership in safety, project delivery and contractor management while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.


Working closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and HSEC teams, you will develop project execution strategies, optimise resource allocation and drive continuous improvement initiatives that support plant reliability, structural integrity and business performance.


Key responsibilities:



  • Lead the planning, coordination and safe execution of structural projects across processing and surface operations.

  • Develop detailed project plans, resource requirements, schedules and execution strategies to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Supervise contractors and project personnel, ensuring compliance with site standards, quality requirements, HSEC systems and Australian Standards.

  • Monitor project progress, budgets, forecasts and performance metrics while providing regular reporting to stakeholders and management.

  • Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, critical control verifications and visible field leadership activities to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Support tendering, procurement, project close-out activities, quality documentation and structural integrity inspection programs.


Required Experience


You will bring proven experience supervising structural, maintenance, construction or capital projects within a mining, heavy industrial, processing or similar operational environment. You will have demonstrated success managing contractors, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects safely, on schedule and within budget.


The successful candidate will possess strong planning and organisational skills, excellent stakeholder engagement capability and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities. Experience facilitating risk assessments, leading workplace safety initiatives, conducting project reporting and working within regulated industrial environments will be highly regarded. A sound understanding of structural construction, fabrication and installation activities, together with strong commercial awareness and project delivery experience, is essential.


Qualification you should have:



  • Trade qualification in a relevant discipline, Engineering Diploma or Certificate IV in Project Management.

  • Experience supervising structural, construction, maintenance or capital project activities.

  • Strong knowledge of contractor management and project execution practices.

  • Demonstrated commitment to health, safety and risk management leadership.

  • Experience undertaking risk assessments, JSEAs and safety investigations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proven ability to manage costs, schedules, resources and project deliverables.

  • Knowledge of Queensland mining legislation, structural integrity requirements and industrial site standards will be highly regarded.
