Job summary

Combined Selection Group Limited in Sydney's Western Suburbs is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead site inspections, forensic investigations and remedial design for existing Class 2 buildings, including expert reporting and NCAT/Court expert witness work.

This hands-on senior role offers autonomy, close collaboration with owners, builders and legal teams, exposure to remediation projects, and a pathway to register as a CPEng/NPEng.

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years of structural engineering experience focusing on Class 2 developments.
• Experience in remediation, forensic investigation, building diagnostics and facade assessment.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• CPEng/NPEng registration desirable, ideally as a Registered Design Practitioner under the DBP Act.
• Proficient in structural analysis software with knowledge of NCC and Australian Standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections and forensic investigations on distressed structures.
• Prepare remedial designs, drawings and specifications for strengthening and facade refurbishment.
• Ensure remedial designs comply with Australian Standards and the NCC, including Declared Designs under the NSW DBP Act 2020.
• Produce technical reports and Expert Witness Reports for NCAT hearings and Court proceedings.
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 quality, safety and environmental standards.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

ABOUT THE COMPANY

A Sydney-based structural engineering consultancy specialising in building diagnostics, remediation and forensic investigation for existing Class 2 residential and commercial buildings. The team works closely with owners, builders and legal teams to diagnose structural issues and deliver compliant rectification solutions.

ROLE

We're looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to lead site inspections, forensic investigations and remedial design for existing Class 2 buildings, including expert reporting and NCAT/Court expert witness work.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

• Conduct site inspections and forensic investigations on distressed structures, including facades, to diagnose defects, concrete cancer and waterproofing failures
• Prepare structural rectification designs, drawings and specifications for remedial works including strengthening and facade refurbishment
• Ensure remedial designs comply with Australian Standards and the NCC, including preparing Declared Designs under the NSW DBP Act 2020
• Produce technical reports and Expert Witness Reports for NCAT hearings and Court proceedings
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 quality, safety and environmental standards

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE (No more than 5)

• 10-15+ years' structural engineering experience with a strong focus on Class 2 developments
• Extensive experience in remediation, forensic investigation, building diagnostics and facade assessment
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• CPEng/NPEng registration highly desirable, ideally as a Registered Design Practitioner under the DBP Act
• Proficient in structural analysis software (e.g. SpaceGass, ETABS) with strong knowledge of the NCC and Australian Standards
