Job summary

Beyond Electrical Engineering (BEE) is expanding its civil and structural capability across the NSW region, including Central Coast, Newcastle and Sydney. The Senior Structural Designer / Drafter will develop high-quality structural design documentation for renewable energy and power infrastructure projects.

You’ll work closely with structural engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated drawings, contribute to standards, and mentor junior drafters.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of consulting engineering or drafting experience.
• Experience producing detailed structural drawings for steel and concrete.
• Strong understanding of drafting standards and multidisciplinary delivery.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit and Bentley MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Produce structural drawings and 3D models from concept through to construction documentation.
• Develop plans, elevations, sections and details for steel and concrete structures and foundations.
• Interpret engineering calculations and translate into accurate documentation.
• Coordinate drawings with civil, electrical and other disciplines to resolve clashes.
• Review structural documentation for accuracy, consistency and compliance with requirements.
• Provide technical input to design development, constructability and construction support.
• Mentor other designers and drafters and contribute to standards and workflows.
• Contribute to bids, proposals and project development as needed.

About the Role

The Senior Structural Designer / Drafter will be responsible for developing high-quality structural design documentation across BEE's renewable energy and power infrastructure projects.

Working closely with structural engineers and multidisciplinary project teams, you'll take engineering concepts and design information through to detailed, coordinated and construction-ready drawings and models.

The role combines hands-on design delivery with technical input into design development, constructability and coordination. As BEE's structural capability grows, you'll also contribute to design standards, workflows and mentoring across the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce structural drawings and 3D models from concept and preliminary design through to detailed design and construction documentation.
• Develop plans, elevations, sections, details and schedules for steel and concrete structures, equipment supports, foundations, platforms and associated power infrastructure.
• Interpret engineering calculations, sketches and design requirements and translate them into accurate, practical and constructible documentation.
• Coordinate structural drawings and models with civil, electrical and other disciplines, identifying clashes, interfaces and constructability issues and working with the project team to resolve them.
• Review and check structural documentation for accuracy, consistency, compliance with project requirements and alignment with engineering intent.
• Provide technical input to design development, constructability, design reviews and construction support, including responding to technical queries and incorporating site information and design changes.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other designers and drafters and contribute to structural drafting standards, workflows, templates and quality practices.
• Contribute structural design and drafting expertise to bids, proposals and project development as required.

What You’ll Bring

• 8+ years’ consulting engineering, design or drafting experience, with demonstrated experience delivering structural design documentation.
• Strong experience producing detailed structural drawings and models for steel and/or reinforced concrete structures, foundations, equipment supports and associated infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering sketches and design concepts and translate them into accurate, coordinated and construction-ready documentation.
• Strong understanding of structural design coordination, drawing standards, constructability and multidisciplinary project delivery.
• Proficiency in relevant design and drafting software, including AutoCAD, and other industry-standard structural design and documentation tools.
• A collaborative, pragmatic approach with the ability to provide technical guidance, QA reviews, mentor others and contribute positively to a growing design team.
• Must have Australian work rights.

Highly regarded

• Experience working within a structural engineering consultancy delivering power or renewable energy infrastructure projects such as substations, switchyards, BESS, solar or associated structural infrastructure.
• Experience developing structural drafting standards, workflows, templates, libraries or design processes within a growing engineering or design team.
• Demonstrated experience using Bentley Microstation and AutoDesk Revit software will be highly regarded.
• Experience supporting structural design through construction.
