Beyond Electrical Engineering (BEE) seeks a Principal Civil Engineer to lead civil design for renewable energy and power infrastructure and to establish the civil capability within the growing multidisciplinary team.

This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on technical delivery, mentoring engineers and engaging clients to shape practical, construction-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' consulting engineering experience delivering civil design for power/renewable energy infrastructure.
• NER, CPEng, RPEQ or equivalent Australian registration (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience in renewable energy and/or power infrastructure projects such as substations, switchyards, BESS, solar or related site infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering design for renewable energy and power infrastructure from concept to construction support.
• Develop civil design solutions across earthworks, drainage, roads, pavements, stormwater and site development.
• Review calculations, reports, drawings and documentation for constructability and compliance.
• Mentor and develop civil engineers and designers as the team grows.
• Coordinate with structural, electrical disciplines and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
• Provide input on project planning, site investigations and construction support.
• Contribute to bids, proposals and expansion of renewables/power offerings.

About the Role

The Principal Civil Engineer will play a key role in delivering BEE's growing portfolio of renewable energy and power infrastructure projects, while helping establish and lead the company's civil engineering capability.

This is an opportunity for an experienced civil engineer to combine hands-on technical delivery with the opportunity to shape how civil engineering is delivered within a growing, multidisciplinary renewables consultancy.

The role requires a Principal Civil Engineer who can operate strategically while remaining close to the technical detail: leading design delivery, mentoring engineers and designers, engaging with clients and developing practical, construction-ready solutions.

You will provide trusted technical advice across project teams and the wider business while building strong relationships with clients, contractors, engineering disciplines and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the delivery of civil engineering design for renewable energy and power infrastructure projects, from concept through detailed design and construction support.
• Lead the development of civil design solutions across earthworks, grading, drainage, roads, pavements, stormwater, site development and associated infrastructure.
• Develop and review civil calculations, design reports, specifications, drawings and technical documentation, ensuring designs are practical, compliant and construction-ready.
• Lead, mentor and develop civil engineers and designers, establishing strong technical standards, design processes, quality practices and workflows as the civil engineering team grows.
• Coordinate civil engineering with structural, electrical and other disciplines, working with clients, contractors and project stakeholders to resolve interfaces and deliver integrated solutions.
• Provide technical input throughout project delivery, including project planning, site investigations, design reviews, construction support and resolution of design issues, while contributing to scope, programme and commercial outcomes.
• Contribute to strategic growth opportunities through technical input to bids, proposals, project development and the expansion of BEE's renewables and power infrastructure offering.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for an experienced civil engineer who enjoys bringing clarity to complex engineering challenges, developing practical solutions and working collaboratively to deliver high-quality renewable energy and power infrastructure.

• 8+ years' consulting engineering experience, with demonstrated experience delivering civil engineering design for power and/or renewable energy infrastructure.
• NER, CPEng, RPEQ or equivalent Australian professional registration (or willingness to obtain after onboarding).
• Experience across renewable energy and/or power infrastructure projects such as substations, switchyards, BESS, solar or associated site infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to lead civil design delivery, provide technical direction and make sound engineering decisions across complex projects.
• Experience partnering with clients, project managers, engineers, designers, contractors and other stakeholders to deliver successful engineering outcomes.
• A collaborative, pragmatic leadership style with the ability to build relationships, mentor others and influence technical outcomes across a multidisciplinary business.
• Must have full work rights in Australia.

Highly regarded:

• A practical understanding of design coordination, constructability and project delivery.
• Experience developing civil engineering standards, workflows, design processes or technical capability within a growing engineering team.
