Beyond Electrical Engineering (BEE) is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead the delivery of structural design for renewable energy and power infrastructure. You will shape BEE's structural capability while mentoring engineers and collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Based in Australia with potential travel, you will influence technical standards and ensure practical, constructible solutions across substations, BESS, solar and related projects.

Qualifications

About the Role

The Principal Structural Engineer will play a key role in delivering BEE's growing portfolio of renewable energy and power infrastructure projects, while helping establish and lead the company's structural engineering capability.

This is an opportunity for an experienced structural engineer to combine hands-on technical delivery with the opportunity to shape how structural engineering is delivered within a growing, multidisciplinary renewables consultancy.

The role requires a principal structural engineering leader who can operate strategically while remaining close to the technical detail: leading structural design delivery, mentoring engineers and designers, engaging with clients and developing practical, constructible and fit-for-purpose solutions.

You will provide trusted technical advice across project teams and the wider business while building strong relationships with clients, contractors, engineering disciplines and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the delivery of structural engineering design for renewable energy and power infrastructure projects, from concept through detailed design and construction support.
• Lead the development of structural design solutions for steel and concrete structures, equipment supports, foundations, platforms and other associated infrastructure across substations, switchyards, BESS, solar and other power projects.
• Develop and review structural calculations, design reports, specifications, drawings and technical documentation, ensuring designs are practical, compliant, constructible and fit for purpose.
• Lead, mentor and develop structural engineers and designers, establishing strong technical standards, design processes, quality practices and workflows as the structural engineering team grows.
• Coordinate structural engineering with civil, electrical and other disciplines, working with clients, contractors and project stakeholders to resolve interfaces and deliver integrated solutions.
• Provide technical input throughout project delivery, including project planning, site investigations, design reviews, construction support and resolution of design issues, while contributing to scope, programme and commercial outcomes.
• Contribute to strategic growth opportunities through technical input to bids, proposals, project development and the expansion of BEE's renewables and power infrastructure offering.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for an experienced structural engineer who enjoys bringing clarity to complex engineering challenges, developing practical solutions and working collaboratively to deliver high-quality renewable energy and power infrastructure.

• 8+ years' consulting engineering experience in structural engineering, with a demonstrated track record of leading design delivery on complex projects.
• NER, CPEng, RPEQ or equivalent Australian professional registration (or willingness to obtain after onboarding).
• Demonstrated experience delivering structural engineering design for power and/or renewable energy infrastructure, including substations, switchyards, BESS, solar or associated structural infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to lead structural design delivery, provide technical direction and make sound engineering decisions across complex projects.
• Strong experience in the analysis and design of structural systems, including steel and/or reinforced concrete structures, foundations, equipment supports and associated infrastructure.
• Experience partnering with clients, project managers, engineers, designers, contractors and other stakeholders to deliver successful engineering outcomes.
• A collaborative, pragmatic leadership style with the ability to build relationships, mentor others and influence technical outcomes across a multidisciplinary business.
• Must have full work rights in Australia.

Highly regarded:

• A practical understanding of design coordination, constructability and project delivery within the power or renewables sector.
• Experience developing structural engineering standards, workflows, design processes or technical capability within a growing engineering team.
