Job summary

Sutherland Shire Council seeks a Senior Development Engineer – Stormwater and Flooding to evaluate development proposals, assess environmental impacts, and advise on flooding and water quality. You will prepare/ review plans and share technical expertise across project teams.

As a senior team member, you will mentor junior staff and may act as team leader, contributing to community safety and sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Extensive experience in stormwater and flooding assessment.
• Proficiency in hydraulic and hydrologic software: Drains, Turflow, ArcMap, HEC-RAS, MUSIC.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assess development proposals for environmental and engineering impacts.
• Prepare and review engineering plans and provide specialist flooding advice.
• Contribute technical expertise to project teams.
• Mentor junior staff and act as team leader when needed.
