Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day processing of incoming/outgoing stores and inventory items.
• Maintain accurate stock movement records including receiving, storage and distribution.
• Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile discrepancies.
• Coordinate with departments to meet stores requirements and fulfill requests timely.
• Organise and label stored items to optimise warehouse space and retrieval.
• Monitor stock levels and advise on replenishment to prevent shortages or overstocking.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations in stores.
• Utilise stores management systems to record and track inventory transactions.
• Liaise with suppliers and delivery personnel to ensure goods are received in good condition.

Complete Staff Solutions are seeking a Senior Stores Processing Officer to join our team in a short term casual capacity (leave relief), based in Lismore, NSW. This role is pivotal in managing and overseeing the efficient processing, organisation and distribution of stores and inventory across local government operations. As a Senior Stores Processing Officer, you will take on a leadership position within the stores management function, ensuring that all inventory systems are maintained to the highest standards and that stock levels are accurately managed to support the operational needs of Council and its departments.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the day-to-day processing of incoming and outgoing stores and inventory items
• Maintain accurate records of all stock movements, including receiving, storage and distribution activities
• Conduct regular stock audits and reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies
• Coordinate with various departments to understand their stores requirements and fulfil requests in a timely manner
• Manage the organisation and labelling of stored items to optimise warehouse space and improve retrieval efficiency
• Monitor stock levels and provide recommendations for replenishment to prevent shortages or overstocking
• Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental regulations within the stores facility
• Utilise stores management systems and databases to record and track all inventory transactions
• Liaise with suppliers and delivery personnel to ensure goods are received in good condition and documented correctly

What we're looking for

Proven experience working in a stores, warehouse or inventory management environment, preferably in a government or local council setting with:-

• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively
• Proficiency in using stores management systems and database software, with competency in Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and also as part of a team in a structured environment
• Physical capability to perform duties involving lifting, carrying and moving items of varying weights
• Sound knowledge of WHS practices, particularly within a store environment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff across multiple departments
• A forklift licence (LF)
• Certificate III in Transport Distribution & Warehouse (or equivalent)
