Job summary

Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a Storeperson to maintain stock levels at the Tycannah Street Works Depot in Moree. You will manage purchases, reconcile accounts, and ensure efficient inventory control while supporting financial processes and value-for-money outcomes.

The role involves manual handling, forklift operation, and using stock systems to organise clothing, chemicals, and supplies for distribution. A Certificate III in Procurement or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Procurement or equivalent discipline, or related procurement/retail experience.
• Proven computer literacy with stock and purchasing systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain optimum stock levels at Tycannah Street Works Depot.
• Handle stock receipt, storage and issuing; complete plant running sheets.

The Opportunity

Step into a hands-on role maintaining optimum stock levels at the Tycannah Street Works Depot. As a Storeperson, you will ensure practical, essential purchasing and inventory control while supporting effective financial management through purchase orders and account reconciliation.

Your daily tasks will include undertaking manual handling and using machinery like forklifts and front-end loaders to keep stock, clothing, and chemical products organised and ready for distribution. You will also maintain accurate receipt, storage, and issuing of stock, complete plant running sheets, and ensure value for money outcomes are consistently achieved for Council.

About You

You are an approachable, proficient, and dynamic team player with strong customer service, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. You are self-motivated, highly organised, and comfortable working effectively in a team or unsupervised to meet deadlines.

To succeed in this role, you will bring

A Certificate III in Procurement or a similar discipline, and or experience in procurement or retail services.

Proven computer literacy with experience using computerised stock systems and purchasing systems.

A current Class C Drivers Licence, General Construction Induction White Card, and a High Risk Work Licence for Forklift.

A successful pre-employment medical and a National Criminal History Check.

Desirable criteria include previous Local Government experience, First Aid Certification, Dogging Certificate, and Front End Loader experience.
