Job summary

NEC Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Storage Engineer to join the Infrastructure Services team in Melbourne on a 6-month fixed-term contract. You will support on‑premises and cloud storage platforms, drive improvements, and mentor engineers across complex environments.

The role requires 3+ years of enterprise storage experience with NetApp, HPE Primera/Alletra, Pure Storage, Hitachi and Brocade SAN, plus VMware and cloud familiarity.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of enterprise storage/SAN support experience.
• Experience with multiple storage platforms and vendor technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting and issue resolution skills.
• ITIL Service Management familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day storage operations support and incident management.
• Design, implement, and maintain storage solutions across on-prem and cloud.
• Lead storage lifecycle activities: upgrades, capacity planning, and refreshes.
• Deliver project-based installations, migrations, and platform enhancements.
• Mentor and coach Infrastructure Services team members.

Job description

NEC is seeking an experienced Senior Storage Engineer to join the high-performing Infrastructure Services team in Melbourne for a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and enhancing critical storage platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. You'll work alongside talented engineers, contribute to major infrastructure initiatives, and help drive service innovation for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver day-to-day operational support, including incident, service request, problem, and change management activities.
• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise storage solutions across on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud environments.
• Manage storage infrastructure lifecycle activities, including upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and technology refreshes.
• Deliver project-based work involving installations, migrations, upgrades, and platform enhancements.
• Identify opportunities to improve service quality, performance, and operational efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to members of the Infrastructure Services team.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.

About you

• 3+ years' experience supporting enterprise Storage and Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure.
• Strong experience with storage technologies including NetApp, HPE Primera / Alletra, Pure Storage, Hitachi Storage Platforms, and Brocade SAN Technologies.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects, including implementation, migration, upgrade, and design activities.
• Broad understanding of VMware and Public Cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure).
• Strong knowledge of ITIL Service Management practices.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and perform under pressure.
• Backup technologies such as Commvault.
• Experience with cloud-integrated storage and data protection solutions.
• Exposure to large-scale enterprise or managed services environments.
