Job summary

NEC Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Storage Engineer in Melbourne to bolster the Infrastructure Services team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. You will support, maintain, and enhance on-premises and cloud storage platforms, guiding projects and improving service delivery.

You will work with NetApp, HPE Primera/Alletra, Pure Storage, Hitachi, and Brocade SAN, leveraging VMware and cloud platforms to optimize performance and resilience.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise storage and SAN infrastructure.
• Experience with major storage technologies (NetApp, HPE Primera/Alletra, Pure Storage, Hitachi, Brocade SAN).
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects (implementation, migrations, upgrades).
• Broad understanding of VMware and public cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
• ITIL Service Management practices knowledge.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently within a team and manage priorities.
• Experience with backup and data protection (Commvault).
• Exposure to cloud-integrated storage and large enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver day-to-day operational storage support including incidents and change management.
• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise storage across on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud.
• Manage storage lifecycle activities: upgrades, patching, capacity planning, tech refreshes.
• Lead project-based work: installations, migrations, upgrades, enhancements.
• Identify opportunities to improve service quality, performance and efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to the Infrastructure Services team.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
