Job summary

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service is seeking a Senior Speech Pathologist to lead revitalisation initiatives in Innisfail and surrounding communities. You will provide expert clinical care across inpatient, emergency, and outpatient settings, coordinate service delivery, and support junior staff and students in development and supervision.

The role emphasises evidence-based practice, professional development, and partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate detailed knowledge of the continuum of care and apply professional judgement to a complex varied caseload, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence, to establish and deliver efficient and effective services.
• Contribute to planning and development of Cassowary Allied Health service and CHHHS Speech Pathology services clinical practices and procedures using the principles of evidence-based practice.
• Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning and by engaging in professional development activities.
• Provide regular clinical education to pre-entry level clinical students and frequent clinical practice supervision to allied health assistants and less experienced speech pathologists.
