Job summary

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service in Innisfail, QLD, is seeking a Speech Pathologist to join the Rural General Training Pathway. This role offers broad generalist service across inpatients and outpatients within the Cassowary Hub clinics.

You will develop skills across lifespan from paediatrics to adults, participate in the Approved Rural Generalist Education Program, and contribute to service development, quality improvement and research.

Qualifications

• Provide generalist speech pathology services to inpatients and outpatients.
• Participate in Rural Generalist Education Program and apply learnings to clinical practice.
• Assist in ongoing development of speech pathology service and engage in quality improvement/research as directed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver rural generalist adult and paediatric speech pathology clinical services across multiple facilities including Innisfail, Tully and Babinda Hospitals, working across all caseloads as required.
• Work cooperatively with team members, external agencies, clients and families/carers to achieve a client-centred approach.
• Assist the Senior Speech Pathologist with wait list management and strategic long-term management of the speech pathology outpatient services.
• Support a positive work culture.

About us:

The Allied Health Service Cassowary Hub is part of the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. It encompasses three rural hospitals; Innisfail, Tully and Babinda and provides high quality Allied Health Services including Child Protection Liaison, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Dietetics and Speech Pathology.

About your opportunity:

Join a passionate team of allied health professionals and provide generalist speech pathology services to inpatients and outpatients as required. This position offers the opportunity to develop skills in speech pathology assessment and treatment across the lifespan from paediatrics to adults. You will gain excellent generalist skills in this rural context, working within a dynamic Allied Health Services team through participation in an Approved Rural Generalist Education Program.

This program involves formal and work-based training in Speech Pathology rural generalist practice and applying learnings to enhance clinical and service outcomes. You will also have the opportunity to assist in the ongoing development of the speech pathology service within the Cassowary Hub and participate in quality improvement and research activities as directed by the Team Leader Allied Health and the Director of Speech Pathology.

About your role:

• Work cooperatively and effectively in a professional manner with team members, external agencies, clients and families/carers to achieve a client centred approach.
