Job summary

Space Machines Company in New South Wales is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design and implement flight software for our space systems. You will own requirements, develop firmware in C/C++, and collaborate with hardware and ground-segment teams to ensure reliable operation.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, hardware interfacing, and end-to-end testing, with opportunities to shape architecture and contribute to critical missions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or related field and 5+ years of hands-on software development.
• Extensive embedded firmware development in C/C++ for microcontrollers or SoCs.
• Experience with BSP bring-up and hardware-software integration.
• Proficient debugging across hardware/software boundary with JTAG/SWD and oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

• Own FSW requirements, architecture, implementation, and testing for flight software.
• Interface hardware and software teams; integrate CAN, RS-422/485, Ethernet.
• Bring up subsystems (thermal, radio, power, attitude, payload) and validation.
• Develop firmware for control units and write drivers.
• Maintain CI/CD and manage third-party software integrations.
