Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies in Bowen, North Queensland, Australia, seeks a Lead System Modeller Engineer to drive advanced aerospace modelling. You will own system modelling activities, guide a small team of engineers and coordinate with the Chief Engineer to deliver high‑fidelity simulations for launch vehicles and subsystems.

The role requires a degree in physics/engineering, 5+ years in modelling, experience with FEA/CFD, Python, and proficiency in ANSYS or similar tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering.
5+ years experience in engineering modelling.
Ability to model a complex system using fundamental mechanical/aerothermal principles with mission constraints.
Experience with mechanical CAD Software.
Experience with FEA and CFD.
Experience programming in Python.
Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies with minimal guidance.
Proven ability to operate in dynamic, fast paced environments.
CPENG and RPEQ eligibility.
Ability to obtain NV1 Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of engineers developing complex aerodynamics, thermal, and mechanical models.
Own the System Modeller processes, tools and technologies.
Act as Technical Authority on System Modelling matters.
Conduct System Modelling from low to high fidelity across product life cycle.
Coordinate with Launch Vehicle and Launch Site Product Heads and external stakeholders.
Mentor and support the team and manage work allocation.
Collaborate with other departments to drive program success.
Foster junior engineers’ development and maintain safety and quality standards.
