Job summary

Gilmour Space is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Launch Operations) to help design, analyse and deliver ground systems for Australia's first orbital launch site in Bowen, North Queensland. You will lead end-to-end delivery from conception to commissioning and work with technicians and engineers to keep projects on schedule.

You will have a mechanical/aerospace background with 6+ years of design, CAD and FEA experience, hands-on hardware exposure, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Aerospace Engineering.
• 6+ years mechanical design and analysis experience.
• 6+ years CAD experience designing parts and assemblies.
• 3+ years using a commercial FEA or Multiphysics package.
• 6+ years hands-on hardware fabrication, assembly, testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyse, verify and document mechanical aspects of Launch Site GSE and infrastructure using CAD/FEA.
• Design mechanical GSE to aid integration and testing of systems.
• Own end-to-end product delivery timelines from conception to qualification.
• Review specs and data; produce O&M docs for new equipment.
• Create drawings, calculations, reports and project documents for GD&T and testing.
• Lead and support commissioning of mechanical systems with procedures and checklists.
• Faultfind and rectify mechanical GSE as needed.
• Support launch preparations and launch operations.
• Operate and maintain ground support equipment at Bowen Orbital Spaceport.
