Job summary

Babylon Sydney, part of Australian Venue Co., is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join a busy kitchen team. You will work closely with the Head Chef to lead the team during service, maintain high standards of food quality and presentation, and ensure smooth kitchen operations.

We value hands-on leadership, excellent organisation and strong communication. The role is based in a fast-paced Sydney venue with opportunities to mentor junior staff and contribute to a cohesive, professional kitchen

Qualifications

• Previous Sous Chef or strong senior chef experience.
• Restaurant kitchen experience is essential.
• Experience in a high-volume kitchen.
• Strong food preparation and presentation skills.
• The ability to lead, support and motivate a kitchen team.
• Excellent organisation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Leading and motivating the kitchen team during busy services.
• Ensuring food is prepared and presented consistently to a high standard.
• Working across preparation and service in a hands-on capacity.
• Helping maintain efficient kitchen operations and service flow.
• Maintaining food safety, cleanliness and kitchen standards.
• Supporting stock control, ordering and minimising food wastage.
• Training and mentoring junior chefs and developing the wider kitchen team.
• Helping create a positive, professional and team-focused kitchen environment.
