Job summary

The Royal Sydney Golf Club in Rose Bay is seeking a passionate Sommelier to elevate our wine and beverage program. You’ll own wine operations, collaborate with the F&B leadership, and deliver memorable experiences for members and guests.

Primarily a dining room role from Tuesday to Saturday, with flexibility for events. A strong wine focus, inventory control, and supplier relationships are essential to success in this role.

Qualifications

• Sommelier experience in a hotel or hatted restaurant environment.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence with MS Office, restaurant management systems, POS, and OpenTable.
• WSET Level 3 minimum (or CMS Advanced).
• A real passion for hospitality and a finger on the pulse of industry trends.
• Proven experience managing inventory and writing wine menus.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the F&B team to craft perfect pairing recommendations.
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Head of Food & Beverage to support the dining experience and beverage operations.
• Play an active role on the Wine Sub Committee, attend meetings, and take minutes.
• Host and present Club wine events that bring our offering to life.
• Build the team’s wine knowledge through hands-on training and mentoring.
• Lead by example, fostering a values-driven, caring team culture.
• Manage stock and inventory including ordering, wine list curation, and beverage POS.
• Own key supplier relationships.
