Job summary

Optus is seeking a Principal Solutions Architect to lead the design of our API-first, AI-assisted network automation platform in Sydney. You will bridge product engineering with zero-touch automation, migrating services from legacy networks to the new IPM pipeline and upskilling our networking teams.

You will define scalable architectures, translate business intent into deployable models, and ensure governance across projects.

Qualifications

10+ years’ experience building, scaling, and automating tier-1 carrier networks.
Proven record architecting large-scale network migrations.
Hands-on with Cisco NSO and zero-touch provisioning.
Experience establishing NetBox as truth source.
Knowledge of GitOps and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

Define end-to-end automation architectures to hit 80% IP changes by 2027.
Migrate enterprise services to the new IPM pipeline at scale.
Design multi-vendor abstraction layers to prevent vendor lock-in.
Embed NetBox as the authoritative source of truth for design and inventory.
Translate product intent into structured service inventory models and workflows.
Mentor engineers in software-driven operations and CI/CD.
Ensure governance with TM Forum Open API and IETF modelling.
Collaborate across Sales, Product, Architecture and Technology teams to speed time-to-market.
