Job summary

Optus is seeking a Principal Solutions Architect to lead the design of an AI-assisted network automation platform. You will bridge product engineering with zero-touch automation, migrating services from legacy networks to the new IPM pipeline, and mentoring engineers in software-driven operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience building, scaling, and automating tier-1 carrier networks.
• Proven track record migrating large-scale enterprise services on automated pipelines.
• Hands-on with Cisco NSO, zero-touch provisioning and replacing legacy OSS stacks.
• Deep product architecture across Carrier IP-Line, IP-VPN, MEF E-Line/E-LAN, SD-WAN, and SIP Voice.
• Experience establishing NetBox as authoritative truth source.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver end-to-end automation architectures to hit our target of automating 80% of recurring IP changes by 2027.
• Migrate enterprise services off legacy networks onto the IPM pipeline.
• Design scalable, multi-vendor abstraction layers to prevent vendor lock-in.
• Embed NetBox as authoritative source of truth for design and inventory.
• Translate product intents into service inventory models and workflows.
• Lead design authority for Fixed Enterprise Networks automation.
• Scale zero-touch provisioning systems like Cisco NSO and intent-based modeling.
• Mentor and upskill engineers in software-driven network operations and CI/CD.
• Ensure governance with TM Forum Open API standards and IETF practices.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product, Architecture, and Tech to accelerate time-to-market.
