Job summary

QIX Consulting is seeking a Senior Solution Architect to lead enterprise architectures for a major banking environment in Sydney. You will shape architectural direction across infrastructure, cloud, on-premise and hybrid solutions and drive governance and certification with senior stakeholders.

The role involves defining concrete designs, ensuring security controls, and coordinating with SMEs, project managers and governance bodies to deliver strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong experience as a Solution Architect within complex enterprise environments.
• Experience delivering architectures for infrastructure, cloud, on-premise and hybrid environments.
• Experience in Banking/Financial Services or Payments technologies (e.g., SWIFT, NPP, FSS).
• Knowledge of COBIT 2019 and ISO 27001 security frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Define solution architectures, high-level designs and impact assessments for key initiatives and systems.
• Own conceptual and solution architecture deliverables from development through stakeholder endorsement.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure architecture solutions.
• Develop high-level designs with SMEs aligned to enterprise standards.
• Partner with Project Managers to scope initiatives and identify dependencies.
• Drive the Architectural Certification process to completion.
• Identify dependencies across projects and platforms.
• Resolve complex architecture contentions and ensure security considerations are incorporated.

Senior Solution Architect | Banking | Sydney

Contract: 1 October 2026 – 31 March 2027 | Immediate Start

QIX Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Solution Architect to join a major banking environment in Sydney.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned architect with strong experience delivering complex enterprise solution architectures across infrastructure, cloud, on-premise and hybrid environments. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, analysts, SMEs and project teams to shape architectural direction and drive solutions through governance and certification.

The Role

• Define solution architectures, high-level designs and impact assessments for key initiatives and systems
• Own Conceptual and Solution Architecture deliverables from development through stakeholder endorsement
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure and practical architectural solutions
• Work with SMEs to develop high-level designs aligned with enterprise architecture standards, patterns and principles
• Partner with Project Managers to appropriately scope initiatives and identify architectural dependencies
• Drive the Architectural Certification process through to completion
• Identify and document dependencies across projects, platforms and systems
• Resolve complex solution design and architecture contentions
• Ensure appropriate security and control considerations are incorporated into architecture designs

Mandatory Requirements

• Strong experience as a Solution Architect / Senior Solution Architect within complex enterprise environments
• Proven experience producing Solution Architectures covering infrastructure, cloud, on-premise and hybrid solutions
• Experience within Banking, Financial Services and/or Payment Systems, including exposure to technologies such as SWIFT, NPP or FSS
• Strong understanding of COBIT 2019 and ISO 27001 security/control frameworks
• Experience across common enterprise infrastructure technologies including Active Directory, SQL Server, VMware, SAN and Sterling
• Strong understanding of software and infrastructure automation and associated tooling
• Experience with automation technologies such as Terraform, Puppet, vRA, Chocolatey and/or Packer
• Experience with CI/CD technologies such as Azure DevOps, Artifactory and GitLab
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience resolving complex architecture and solution design challenges

Nice to Have

• TOGAF certification or strong TOGAF knowledge
• Experience with certificate lifecycle management technologies such as Venafi and HashiCorp

Vault

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, Technology or a related discipline
• Exposure to emerging technologies and their practical application within large enterprise environments
• Strong understanding of architecture models, notations, governance and associated tooling
