Qualifications

• At least 3 years' experience in software engineering.
• Strong experience in C++ development on Windows and Linux within complex engineering environments.
• Experience with Python or similar languages for system development, automation and data processing.
• Proven experience with software testing methodologies (unit, integration, system-level).
• Experience developing high-availability, mission-critical software systems.
• Exposure to distributed processing and real-time systems in scientific/observatory environments.
• Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated deployment.
• Knowledge of safety-critical software and systems automation, including hardware or firmware interaction.
• Experience contributing to visualization tools, UI, and data-driven applications (desirable).
• Familiarity with space systems, astronomical observatories, or laser-based platforms (desirable).

This role focuses on delivering high-performance, reliable, and scalable software that enables precision space observation, tracking, and laser operations. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, the role contributes across the full software lifecycle, including development, integration, testing, and deployment, ensuring systems meet the demands of mission-critical observatory and space applications. The position requires strong technical capability, adaptability to complex problem domains, and the ability to deliver robust solutions both independently and collaboratively within small, high-performing teams.

Primary duties: Design, develop, integrate, and maintain high-performance software systems supporting space telescope and laser operations, ensuring reliable and efficient functionality through rigorous testing, system verification, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
